VOLUNTEER

Thank you for your interest in our volunteer program.  We appreciate your willingness to pass along what has been so freely given!  If you are in a 12-step program and have a year or more of sobriety, there are several ways to volunteer at Serenity Recovery Centers:

  • Speak and/or chair meetings on a regular basis.
  • Hear 5th steps.
  • Take clients to meetings.
  • Supervise clients on outings.

Our next Volunteer Orientation is Sunday, January 15 from 2:30 until 4:00 p.m.  For more information and to register for the orientation, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Elyce Reaves at (901) 521-1131 ext. 204 or email elyce.reaves@serenityrecovery.org.

In addition to a yearly TB screening, volunteers also need to read, fill out and sign the following:  Volunteer PolicyConfidentiality Statement,  Statement of Understanding.

Bill W.(the co-founder of Alcoholics Anonymous) recognized that the recurring desire to drink disappears when on alcoholic works with another. This understanding became a basic principle of the new society. (“The Best of Bill,” page 84)
